PHILADELPHIA, PA—Reality TV star Valerie Fairman, 23, was found dead in her Philadelphia home on Wednesday, December 21 at approximately 5 p.m., according to the Chester County Coroner’s Office.

Fairman was featured on the MTV reality show, “16 and Pregnant” from 2009-2010. In the second season, third episode, ‘Valentine’s Day,’ she gave birth to her now 7-year-old daughter Naveah.

MTV officials have expressed their condolences for Fairman’s friends and family.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time” announced MTV in a statement. The TV star had previous run-ins with the law including theft, parole violation, and a traffic stop on December 15 that resulted in a resisting arrest charge. According to ABC News, Fairman had also been ordered to in-patient treatment for drugs or alcohol earlier this year.

The Chester County Coroner’s Office announced that they are continuing the investigation of Fairman’s cause of death and are awaiting the results from a toxicology test. Since the announcement of Fairman’s death, co-stars and fans have taken to Twitter to express their loss.

Amber Portwood, star of the first season of the hit series tweeted, “@The AshleysRR this right here..I can’t even handle.”

Fairman’s mother Janice has custody over her granddaughter Naveah. In an E! News report, Janice said, “[Naveah is] doing very well. She wanted to go to school because of the parties today so I let her go to school, and the counselor said she’s doing very well. She’s surrounded by support and friends.”
