UNITED STATES—When it comes to reality television there seems to be scandals across the globe. By now, most of you have heard about the scandal involving TLC star Josh Duggar of the popular series “19 Kids and Counting.” The news of the eldest child committing several acts of molestation was troubling to say the least, not to mention the fact that it appears everything was covered up.

The same day that the news broke, TLC was in the midst of airing a marathon of the popular series involving Josh to say the least. Imagine the networks outcry when the rest of the world learned about the scandal. Not only was the network forced to pull the series from the air in the midst of the news going public; they are forced to consider what actions to take next.

Remember a few months back when news surfaced of TLC star Mama June being photographed with a convicted child molester? Yep, that scandal led to the immediate cancellation of the series that was once a staple on the network. June horrified by the news that has surfaced has declared filing a lawsuit against the network unless similar actions are taken. Cancel the show, or reinstate the series “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.”

Both incidents are absolutely horrifying in my opinion, its more frightening that a network that is catered to family friendly programming is seeing scandal after scandal surface in the wake of its hit shows. I think what might be more frightening is that the network had no idea of this scandal. I have the oddest inkling, but they had to have some knowledge about what transpired.

What is even scarier is the fact that if US Weekly hadn’t broken this news, the public would have no knowledge about what Josh Duggar had done. The police report which contains quite a bit of detail about what transpired is being destroyed and no criminal charges will be filed against Josh because the statue of limitations has passed. Duggar took to Facebook to acknowledge the accusations, admitting that was guilty of the claims that had been made.

I find it troubling that he apparently molested some of his own sisters, and this entire scandal seems like a cover up, but someone managed to find out precisely what transpired and alerted the public. In my personal opinion, the show “19 Kids and Counting” will never been seen the same in the public spotlight. How could it be? The perception that the public has about the series has been completely altered by this news.

If the network decides to keep the show, but eliminate Josh, which TMZ has reported, pundits will still be conflicted. Some could argue the same approach could have been taken with “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.” Eliminate Mama June, and allow the rest of the cast to continue on the series, but that was not the case; the series was completely canned by the network when the scandal surfaced.

I have a feeling the same tactic will happen with “19 Kids and Counting.” The network can’t really justify keeping the series on network television and giving a reasoning that the public would accept without controversy. It might be wise for more networks to do an extensive background search to ensure no skeletons are in the closet that could have a direct impact upon revelation to the public. Big time advertisers have already pulled from the series and its certain plenty others will follow suit as the backlash continues to grow.

This scandal may be the doom of a reality hit and a family that Americans had allowed into their households each week.
