UNITED STATES—One of the biggest nights of the year in Los Angeles is the annual ESPY awards. The award show gathers top celebrities from sports and entertainment alike to celebrate the past year in sports by recognizing the most major sports achievements, revisiting some of the unforgettable moments and honoring the leading performers and performances.

The inaugural ESPY Award Show took place in 1993. With the first ceremony came a long lasting partnership between ESPN and The V Foundation for Cancer Research, created by the late Jim Valvano.

The 2016 ESPYS are presented by Capital One and will be hosted by WWE Superstar, actor and television host John Cena. Cena is best known as a 15-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion and as a record-setting Make-A-Wish granter.

One of the great and unique things about the ESPYS is that the fans decide the winners. Fans can visit ESPYS.com to cast their vote for the winner of every category.
