TAMPA, FL—Linebacker for the San Francisco 49ers, Reuben Foster, was arrested on Saturday, November 24, the day before the team’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Foster was arrested after 9:10 p.m. at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Tampa, Florida on charges of domestic violence against his girlfriend, Elissa Ennis.

Officers from the Tampa Police Department were called to investigate a verbal altercation. The victim reported that her phone was slapped out of her hand, she was shoved, and slapped with an open hand on the right side of her face. According to the police report, the victim sustained a minor injury, a scratch on her left collarbone. It was also reported that the victim and Foster lived together off-and-on over the past 3 years.  

Foster previously faced similar charges regarding domestic violence, weapons possession, and making criminal threats in April 2018. Ennis at the time, withdrew her allegations and Foster was only given two years probation and a fine of $235. He was suspended for the first two games of the season as a result of the allegations.

The NFL star was charged with first degree misdemeanor domestic violence at the Hillsborough County Jail. He was released on Sunday, November 25 after posting bail. Foster has since been released from the 49ers team.
