SAN FRANCISCO—The San Francisco Police Department revealed that Andres Tobar, 47, of South San Francisco was arrested in connection to an investigation by the SFPD’s Special Victims Unit that commenced in early January 2018 of a report of child abuse involving a minor at an elementary school in the Mission District.

According to a press release from the SFPD, the investigation lead to the SF District Attorney’s Office issuing a warrant for Tobar. On Tuesday, January 30, at approximately 11:35 a.m. Tobar turned himself into the SFPD. He was placed under arrest and booked at the San Francisco County Jail for felony child endangerment/abuse.

Tobar is an employee of the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD). The Department did not release specific details pertaining to the actual abuse Tobar committed. Authorities are asking anyone who may have been a victim or had suspicious contact with Tobar to contact the San Francisco Police Special Victim’s Unit (415) 558-5500.
