HOLLYWOOD—Star Trek" is a cult classic worldwide and has been for over four decades now. Jeffrey Byron, who stars as a Star Fleet Instructor, sat down in Beverly Hills to discuss what a great honor it was to be a part of history and this film. Byron is no stranger to Hollywood history. He's the son of the legendary British, and then American, iconic star Anna Lee who starred for 25 years in daytime television's “General Hospital.” Lee was the show's most popular character as Lila Quartermaine for that time. Jeffrey Byron, however, has been an actor, photographer and artist. Byron can be seen in the new "Star Trek" sequel by director J.J. Abrams. Abrams is best known for his hit series "Lost," but has quickly become one of Hollywood's brightest directors.

I've known Jeffrey Byron for decades and he never ceases to amaze me with his incredible talent as an actor and the integrity in which he portrays characters on the small and big screen. Byron's childhood big screen debut came when his godfather director John "Pappy" Ford cast him alongside John Wayne, Caesar Romero, Lee Marvin and the beautiful Elizabeth Allen in "Donovan's Reef." Remind me to tell you a story about how young Jeffrey ruined the beautiful white suit of actor Caesar Romero's while being a total young gentleman to Miss Allen.

Byron sprung for lunch at a swanky restaurant and answered questions with style and grace. Not since the actor appeared on my television show have I had such fun catching up with him on his work.

Q: How does it feel to be a part of history? “Star Trek” is an amazing cult classic internationally and you are a part of the new film. What role do you play in it?

A: "It's an honor to be part of a film that has such an illustrious history and at the same time to be involved with a creative team who is introducing ‘Star Trek’ to a whole new fan base. I see it as the best of both worlds. I play a Star Fleet Instructor who is administrating a test to a young Cadet Kirk."

Q: Was it me or did you find the actor who played Spock to be eerily similar to Leonard Nimoy?

A: "My scene was with Zachary Quinto and his resemblance to Leonard Nimoy was remarkable."

Q: You got to work for one of the most respected directors in the business, J. J. Abrams. How was it working for him?

A: "JJ Abrams is not only one of the most talented film makers in Hollywood, he is also a really cool guy who made my job easy. His enthusiasm is contagious and it would be a thrill to work with him again and again."

Q: How did you get the role?

A: "JJ's long time casting director April Webster brought me in and I read a scene for her that was put on tape. She is one of the best in the business and very supportive of her actors."

Q: Did you find it intimidating to be doing a film like this?

A: "Not intimidating, but very exciting."

Q: Would you be lined up for the next "Star Trek" film?

A: "I haven't heard anything on that front but I'd love to be in the next "Star Trek" if they will have me back."

Q: Tell us about your artwork and where is it going?

A: "I have a collection of images that I mount on museum wrap canvas. They look like oil paintings. Most of my work is still life and golf course architecture. Melissa Morgan Fine Art Gallery represents me. They are in Palm Desert, CA. You can also view my work at jbyronphotoartist.com."

Q: Anything new on the professional front?

A: "I am the rights holder to the Robert Nathan Library. I have two books in development and am working to set up two more. I also just finished a pilot called ‘Snakes of Justice.’ It's a half comedy." undefined undefined undefined undefined undefined undefined
