WARRIORS WIN 121-119
OAKLAND—It was another close game for the Golden State Warriors on Thursday, January 24, 2008 against the New Jersey Nets. The Warriors were able to eek out a win against the Nets, defeating them 121-119. It was Monta Ellis who led the team to victory scoring an astounding 39 points in Thursday’s game. The Warriors were able to pull a 22-0 run in the fourth quarter to tackle the lead from the Nets. New Jersey didn’t give up with a fight though. They were able to regain the lead in the final minutes of the fourth quarter, but the Warriors were able to shut down the Nets in the final minute of the game.
Baron Davis scored 25 points and had 12 rebounds and 10 assists in the game. Leading the New Jersey Nets in scoring was Richard Jefferson who scored 34 points and Vince Carter who scored 29 points. The Warriors season is likely to get even better with the big announcement that was made on Tuesday, January 29, 2008. Chris Webber has officially signed on to play with the Golden State Warriors once again. Webber played for the team during the 1993-1994 season, but asked for a trade after butting heads with Warriors head coach Don Nelson and was sent to play for Washington. Webber recently played for the Detroit Pistons, but hasn’t played a game with the team since their defeat to the Cleveland Cavilers in the Eastern Conference finals last year. Looks like the Warriors will be a force to reckon with now that Webber has joined the team.
