Blowing out the candles this week are two more hunks. Josh Hartnett turned 30 this week while funnyman Robin Williams turned 57. I won’t share which I am closer to in age because no one cares, but Hartnett, a San Francisco born guy, is busy working on several projects: “I Come with the Rain,” “Bunraku,” “Queen of the South” and “End Zone.” His last hit was “The Black Dahlia,” which is a story about a young woman who came to Hollywood to become a star and died before her time. Hartnett is a very hard working actor, who seems to deliver solid performances in each of his roles.
In 1998 Hartnett worked opposite the dynamic Jamie Lee Curtis in “Halloween: H20.” Hartnett broke out on the screen with that film and made a name for himself. Just a few years later, he was in a serious film, “Pearl Harbor” for which many producers and critics gave him high marks for his acting ability. In 2002 Hartnett was named one of People Magazine’s "50 Most Beautiful People." Here’s to more movie-making years to this young guy and God speed.
While Robin Williams is constantly laughing on screen, this has been a tough year for him. He’s in the process of divorcing his second wife Marcia, but has been keeping busy as well on movie sets. Williams stars in the upcoming films, “Old Dogs,” “Shrink,” “The Prince of Providence” and “The Krazees.” Williams took a serious turn in his work in recent years starring as psychopaths in “Insomnia” and “One Hour Photo.” Both were shocking portrayals and Williams has proved himself to be versatile in his work over the years. The prolific actor has over 60 films to his resume with no signs of slowing down.
In 1998 Williams took the Supporting Actor Oscar home for “Good Will Hunting” but has consistently given Oscar worthy performances over the past decade. Happy birthday Robin, and may you have many more.
