Stamp collecting can be fun and educational. However, serious stamp collectors know that one of the rarest stamps in the world is the inverted Jenny. The Jenny stamp was issued by the U.S. postal office on May 10, 1918 in which the image of the Curtiss JN-4 airplane was accidentally printed upside-down, making this postal error one of the most famous of all time. Since only 100 of these stamps ever found you’re lucky to possess one; it is worth a fortune.

Speaking of stamps, a new stamp honoring Frank Sinatra was held on May 13 at Gotham Hall in New York with post office’s chairman of the board of governors, Alan Kessler and Sinatra’s daughter and son, Nancy Sinatra and Frank Sinatra Jr. The stamp was first unveiled in December 2007 by the U.S. Postal Service. In addition to the stamp ceremony on May 13, a single-disc collection CD titled “Nothing But The Best” featuring 22 classic cuts will be available at www.franksinatra.com, and at 7000 Post Offices in the U.S. Frank Sinatra, one of the greatest entertainers in the world, deserved this honor. Along with his other achievements, including three Oscars, two Golden Globes, and his many Grammys, this native New Jerseryan was a generous humanitarian. Frank Sinatra will live in our hearts forever.
Without a doubt, this season’s “American Idol” has been the worst in history. At first, it was quite promising with the Beatles songs, and then with a blink of an eye it was all downhill. No, I don’t want to be mean, but even Paula Abdul seems bored. The queen of nice’s critique of booted, dreadlocked Jason Castro’s two songs she’d heard him perform by Neil Diamond a few weeks ago, led to speculation that perhaps the show should be equipped with a Breathalyzer. Of course, Paula was the only one on earth to have heard Jason sing two songs. He only performed one. You may recall, host Ryan Seacrest came out and said the rumors are not true about Paula. Last year, she nearly fell off the set during the live interview, which she later blamed on prescription pain medication. With that said, the themes were terrible this season. Come on, Dolly Parton, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Mariah Carey, and Neil Diamond? I have nothing against these performers; they are great, even Webber was excellent as a mentor. I just don’t get it. I don‘t think the contestants would ever record any of those songs on their first CD. So who will be crowned this year’s “American Idol”? What was going on with David Cook? He seems very distracted, it seems that he has been dealing with a variety of personal and family health issues, and when asked refuses to discuss it. David Archuleta is so cute and adorable, and the girls love him too. Never underestimate the powers of a crazy fan base.
Let’s stop here for a question. If David Archuleta loses, who can he blame? Why must some stage parents behave in that manner? They don’t seem to realize that what they do can sometimes destroy the career of their loved ones. Jeff Archuleta has been banned from rehearsals, and was told by producers that he can no longer join the 17-year-old contestant, as he prepares for the show, the person familiar with the matter told the Associated Press. According to reports, this is not the first time he tries to meddle, whether it’s on the “Idol” show or on other shows.
Rose’s Scoop: Portugal‘s soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo wins another award. The 23-year-old Manchester United winger has been voted Soccer Player of the Year by the Soccer Writers’ Association.
