Singer/entertainer Tom Culver, who lives in Los Angeles, will be performing at Charlotte’s in Palm Springs on May 31. Tom, who will be honoring the career of the legendary Academy Award-winning performer Johnny Mercer, is very excited to have the opportunity to perform at Charlotte’s, but is most pleased that Johnny Mercer’s daughter Mandy will be there to watch his performance.
Tom says, “I became a fan of Johnny Mercer’s when I was a young kid in South Dakota. I just loved his music and don’t know of anyone who was as talented as he was.” Well, some say that Tom Culver is as talented, though he’d never agree. Mercer won four Academy Awards for his work and one of his finest is Culver’s favorite: “I Remember You.” Which Mercer wrote in honor of his relationship with Judy Garland, who performed it many times as well.

Tom Culver is a man who doesn’t just sing one style of music during his shows. He loves the rich eclectic taste of Mercer, so he plans on singing many variations of several of his greatest hits. “I don’t want to bore the audience, so I like to mix things up a bit. A ballad this time, something with rhythm the next.” Which is why Tom Culver is one of the most well known and loved performers in the city of Los Angeles.
“I am very pleased that Mr. Mercer’s daughter Mandy will be there for my performance. A mutual friend contacted her and she called and told me recently that she’ll be there.” The excitement in Tom Culver’s voice is almost palpable. Culver has contacted everyone from Mercer’s foundation to people who worked with him and now family, to get to know the great man even better. Cabaret legend, David Johnson told me of Culver’s great talents and abilities and Dolores Peterson of the Hollywood Canteen added, “Tom has a wonderful voice, a great appeal and will be incredible in his upcoming concert.”
Culver told "Canyon News" of his planned rehearsals and he’s sure to be well prepared for this evening’s performance. Culver’s musical director is the extraordinarily talented Rich Bono, who is well known in venues across Vegas and is now relocating to California.
For those interested in hearing the wonderful amazing voice of Tom Culver, he’ll be performing on May 31, at Charlotte’s in Palm Springs. Charlotte’s for those who have never been is an exquisite dining experience in the style of charming old Palm Springs with a European touch. You can make reservations by calling: (760) 327-9066.
