INDIANAPOLIS—
It’s not what thousands of
Indianapolis Colts fans wanted to see in last Sunday’s game.
The defending Super Bowl Champs were eliminated from the playoffs.
The defending champs were defeated by the San Diego Chargers 28-24 in a game that was an absolute thriller that had fans on the edge of their seats until the final minutes in the fourth quarter.
San Diego superstar LaDainian Tomlinson was injured in the first half of the game after bruising his knee.
He sat out the rest of the game.
At halftime the Colts lead the Chargers 10-7, but in the third quarter the Chargers came b
ack strong scoring two touchdowns putting them in the lead 21-17.
After Phillip Rivers injured his knee, Billy Volek was called in to relieve Rivers and Volek stepped up big when the team needed him.
The Chargers were able to advance their lead to 28-24.
The Colts desperately tried to get back in the game in the final two minutes, but
San Diego’s defense shut Peyton Manning and the rest of the Colts down.
Manning and the Colts were at 4th and goal, but Manning just couldn’t connect the ball the any of the players.
The two interceptions that Manning threw in the game cost the Colts big time.
Phillip Rivers threw for 14-19, 264 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Peyton Manning threw for 33-48, 402 yards and 3 touchdowns, including 2 interceptions.
Now, the San Diego Chargers must prepare to face the undefeated New England Patriots, who took them out of the playoffs last year.
With Antonio Gates, Luis Castillo, Tomlinson and Rivers all suffering injuries many question whether the Chargers even stand a chance against the Patriots.
For all those doubters, just look at what the Chargers did to the Colts in last Sunday’s game.
If anything the Chargers have proven they can overcome adversity.
So the New England Patriots should be prepared for an all out war in the AFC championship game this Sunday because its destined to be a game you don’t want to miss.
