OO7 may have totaled his previous Aston Martin DBS in last year’s Blockbuster Bond film "Casino Royale," but that did not stop MI6 from tossing him the keys (make that key fob) to another brand-spanking new DBS in spite of the usual reservations from Q-Branch. That’s right, producers of the highly anticipated, Quantum of Solace (the 22nd installment in the OO7 series) have remained loyal to the luxurious British automaker known for saving Bond’s butt throughout the majority of the James Bond films. In "Quantum of Solace," James will be behind the wheel of a 2009 Aston Martin DBS. Let’s hope he can keep it in one piece for more than one brief car chase this time.

Fans of the OO7 Franchise are eager to see what clever new gadgets Bond’s faithful four-wheeled companion employs to assist the British spy in his efforts to thwart the sinister plans of a secret organization whose reach extends across the globe. Considering a consumer can now order a 2009 DBS with a couple of impressive new spy-worthy features, Bond’s DBS will be hard pressed to maintain its bragging rights as being the best equipped Aston Martin on the planet.

Should you, the consumer, be denied a license to kill, rest assured you will still have a chance to purchase a very well equipped DBS, provided your stock portfolio survived the Fanny and Freddy fiasco. You will probably not be able to order a DBS stocked with every James Bond accoutrement, but there are a couple new optional/accessory features that are sure to be popular with those who tend to live vicariously through agent OO7.

The first new DBS accessory is something Aston Martin and its watch-making partner Jaeger LeCoultre calls the AMVOX2 DBS Transponder. The device is “the first watch developed with the ability to control access into a luxury sports car”, according to Aston spokespeople. Rather than taking on the look of some clever high-tech electronic gizmo, the Transponder appears to be nothing more than a designer chronograph-style wrist watch. The idea behind the clever disguise is that James Bond himself would be able to wear this time piece in any situation (weather it be a Monte Carlo Casino or luxurious Caribbean resort) without evil doers detecting the Q-worth technology hidden behind the watch’s sophisticated clockwork.

The second new feature available on the 2009 DBS is an exclusive Bang Olufson sound system referred to as the BeoSound DBS audio system. When activated, twin acoustic lens speakers rise from the dash, adding just a touch of theatricality to the cutting edge sound quality. After all, OO7 never does anything without throwing in a witty one liner to spice up the moment. Why should his car be any different? Furthermore these motorized tweeter units enable 180 degree horizontal dispersion of high frequencies, giving listeners a superior sense of space, staging, and realism. There are also five mid-range speakers, three additional tweeters, and three woofers, including a potent 200mm subwoofer mounted beneath the rear bench. Overall, there are 13 speakers overall. Both powerful and crisp, the BeoSound system could be used by Bond himself to either blow out the eardrums of bad guys or seduce a damsel in distress.

Although we will not be able to find out what extras Bonds DBS will have until November 14, when "Quantum of Solace" hits theaters nationwide, stock 2009 models (if you can call them stock) are currently available for your gawking pleasure in a showroom near you.
