SAN FRANCISCO
—On
the morning of Friday, March 5, tragedy struck the Bay. A 28-year-old
woman was found dead after disappearing from a Bay Area ferry. At this
time, it is not yet clear if the woman's death was accidental or if she
was attempting to commit suicide.
By the weekend following the woman's death, the woman's identity was
divulged by the city's Office of the Medical Examiner. The woman was
possibly a vagrant or was traveling. Her name was Shayla Hudson.
It is not currently known if the deceased was a local or if she was
visiting the area. There are currently no further details on the
identity of the woman.
The events unfolded between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Monday, when the
young woman came aboard a ferry leaving from Oakland and bound for San
Francisco. At some point between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m., crew members on
the boat began to look for the woman, who could not be found.
Between 8:30 a.m. and 9:15 a.m., the Coast Guard was called in to help
find the missing woman; at the time, it was unknown if the missing
woman was living or dead. After scouring the idea, the body was found
and brought back to San Francisco.
