SAN FRANCISCO—An early morning San Francisco Bay-Bridge crash involving a drunk driver led to the death of a motorcyclist on Saturday, June 19.

The unfortunate accident occurred on I-80, just west of the Treasure Island landmark, according to CHP officials.

Although Officer Licastro was unavailable for comment, he said in a CBS report that the suspect identified as Daniel Francisco Olivera, 31, was driving at an extremely "high speed" during the early 5 a.m. crash. Olivera's lapse in judgment apparently caused the accident when he attempted to transfer from the fourth lane to the third, says Licastro. Olivera's '98 Saab rear ended a 2004 Harley Davidson bike, causing it to skid across the highway.

Reports said, the motorcyclist was identified as 30-year-old Ryan Willis Jones. Jones was transferred to the nearby San Francisco General Hospital, but was later pronounced dead at around 5:50 a.m. Olivera suffered from major injuries and was booked into the San Francisco County Jail.

According to CHP officer A. Paulson in an MSNBC report, the 1 and 2 eastbound lanes were closed until 7:30 a.m.

Condolences go out to the Jones family.
