SAN FRANCISCO—A blaze that was ignited at an apartment complex in San Francisco’s Visitacion Valley district injured three children, one firefighter and four other individuals on the night of Saturday, June 21, according to public information officer Mindy Talmadge of the San Francisco Fire Department.

“All the injuries were fairly minor,” she told Canyon News. “The damage is estimated at about $100,000 for structural damage and $250,000 for the content of the building.”

The fire was reported just before 11:15 p.m. at 2420 Bayshore Blvd. and taken under control by firefighters about 30 minutes later. The American Red Cross responded to the scene to treat the injured victims.

All eight victims were brought to the hospital for treatment of injuries including the firefighter who sustained trauma while fighting the blaze according to sources. A police officer who responded to the scene was also treated for smoke inhalation at the location and released from the location later that night.

“The fire is still under investigation,” said Talmadge. “There is no cause released.”
