Missing Girl, 12, Now Reported As Runaway

SAN FRANCISCO
—A young 12-year-old girl from La Salle Avenue, in the Bayview area, is now considered a runaway, and not missing, according to news reports.
The young girl has been identified as Dyhemia Young, also known as Malaysia, of the Bayview area. The girl went missing on Saturday, September 27. Police stated she was last seen on Page and Buchanan streets at 6 p.m.
The website "Black and Missing but not Forgotten" stated that the girl is an "African-American female who weighs 120 lbs and stands at 5'5. When she had gone missing on Saturday, it is said that she wore blue jeans and a red jacket with her hair in a ponytail."
Sgt. Neville Gittens of the San Francisco Police Department was not available for comment. According to a CBS report, Sgt. Gittens stated the girl "called the SF police on Sunday"; she is supposedly in good condition. Gittens stated that they hope to have a "face to face" encounter with the young child.
According to reports, the girl attends KIIP Academy and rides the 22 Fillmore Muni bus home from school.
