SAN FRANCISCO— Police are seeking the community's assistance in the search for a 14-year-old girl.  Tiffany Alvarez was last seen in San Francisco on Friday, August 20, wearing gray velvet pajamas and carrying a gray or black purse.  She is 5 feet 10 inches tall and approximately 180 pounds, with green eyes and brown hair.

For the past three-to-four months, the youth has been involved in a relationship with a man via the online social networking site, MySpace.  Police suspect the man to be in his 30s. He goes by "Gino" and describes himself as 6 feet tall with a larger nose, a light complexion, dark hair and dark eyes . Tiffany’s parents believe she and Gino may be heading to Houston, Texas.

According to the SFPD report, "Gino" may be driving with the teen in a silver Toyota Tundra pickup truck.

Information on the teen including her description and that of Gino has been posted on numerous sites for missing children including HelpFindMyChild.com, MyCrimespace.com and Projectjason.org.

Project Jason is a nonprofit, which started in 2003, that focuses on providing information and support for families of missing persons.  The founders of the site are the parents of Jason, a man who disappeared over nine years ago at the age of 19.  To this day, no details or clues relating to his case have been found. Jason’s parents aim to provide enhanced public awareness about missing persons, providing the tools and resources to help families cope with the stress of a missing child or loved one.

Anyone with additional information on the whereabouts of Tiffany Alvarez is urged to contact the SFPD Missing Persons unit at 415-558-5508 or after hours at 415-553-1071.
