SAN FRANCISCO—On June 19, homicide suspect Steven Paul Colver was booked into the El Dorado County Jail after being transferred from the San Mateo County Jail, according to the news release issued by the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office.
Colver, 19, was booked on one count of first degree murder in connection to the suspected homicide of Joanne Witt, the mother of Tylar Witt, 14, who Colver was believed to be dating.
On June 15, when Joanne Witt's colleagues noted that she had not reported to work since June 11. Witt was discovered stabbed to death in her home in El Dorado Hills.
On June 16, authorities recovered a vehicle believed to have been left behind by the suspects in downtown San Francisco. A hotel where police believed that the suspects had stayed on the evening of June 12, a day after Joanne Witt's suspected murder, was also investigated.
On June 17, Tylar Witt and Colver were apprehended at a shopping galleria approximately 15 miles south of San Francisco, according to police.
Investigators are now determining the motives in the alleged murder, which involve possibilities of whether or not one or both suspects participated, or whether their relationship played a factor.
Colver will be arraigned in El Dorado County early in the week of June 28 to July 4. Additional information concerning his arraignment will be forthcoming.
