DENVER—It’s the day many San Francisco Giants fans have been waiting for. On Tuesday, May 20, 2008 the Giants snapped their from their six-game losing streak by defeating the Colorado Rockies, 6-5. The Giants came out swinging with center Bengie Molina scoring a double RBI in the first inning. It was initially believed that Molina had scored a home run, but after reviewing the play officials reversed that calling. Left fielder Fred Lewis scored a run in the 1st inning, as well as center fielder Aaron Rowand, whose RBI single gave the Giants a 2-0 lead over the Rockies.
But the Rockies fought back scoring runs in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th innings of the game. By the end of the fourth, San Francisco led Colorado 4-3. The Rockies fought back by scoring 2 runs in the 9th, but it appeared the Giants had the upper hand in the game. Giants star Fred Lewis hit a home run off of Rockies pitcher Alberto Arias in the 9th, giving the Giants the victory.
Other scorers for the Giants included first baseman Rich Aurilia who scored a homerun off of Colorado pitcher Aaron Cook in the 2nd
inning. Right fielder Randy Winn had two runs in the game, while Bengie Molina had 1 run and 3 hits in the game. The Giants had a total of 14 hits amongst their batters in Tuesday’s game. The Colorado Rockies had 10 hits and 4 RBI’s in the game.
