Giants Steal Another Win from Colorado Rockies

DENVER—The San Francisco Giants are on role. After defeating the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday, May 20, 2008 the Giants captured another win from the team on Wednesday, May 21, 2008, defeating them 3-2. The Giants appeared to be destined for a loss in this game as they went scoreless for the first 8 innings. The Rockies led them 2-0, until the 9th inning when Omar Vizquel was able to score a run after Randy Winn hit a ball into right field. Vizquel had 2 hits and 1 RBI during the game.
Right fielder, Daniel Ortmeier sent the game to a tenth inning after scoring a second run in the 9th inning.
Ray Durham captured the victory for the Giants by scoring a run in the 10th off of a hit to left field by Omar Vizquel. Center Bengie Molina had 2 hits and 1 RBI in Wednesday’s game.
The Rockies got off to an excellent start scoring runs in both the 1st and 2nd innings of the game. Center fielder Willy Taveras had 1 run and 2 hits in the game. The Rockies had a total of 8 hits and 2 RBI’s in the game, compared to San Francisco who had only 7 hits in the game.
Giant’s pitcher Jonathan Sanchez only gave up 2 runs and 8 hits during the 6 innings that he played in the game, nearly putting a stop to the Rockies offense. The Giants were able to win 2 of 3 games in there series against Colorado. The team now has a record of 20-31 in the NL.
