SAN FRANCISCO—
The San Francisco Giants were able to add another win to their record this season as they triumphed over the Colorado Rockies 3-2 on Wednesday, April 30, 2008. They were able to tie the game in the 6th inning after Randy Winn’s RBI single against Ubaldo Jimenez, with a score of 2-2, but it was Jose Castillo who led the Giants to victory. Castillo was able to hit a home run against
Colorado pitcher Ryan Speier in the 7th inning. Castillo’s homer put the Giants up 3-2. The Giants had to fight hard to hold onto that lead the rest of the game.
During the 8th inning,
Rockies superstar Willy Taveras was able to hit a ball towards left field. This was a golden opportunity for the
Rockies to take back the lead. The team already had two outs and there was a runner on second base, but San Francisco Giant superstar, Fred Lewis stepped up to the plate catching Taveras’ ball. He received praise from his teammate Tyler Walker for making the save. Giant’s pitcher Jonathan Sanchez gave up two runs, five hits and five walks in Wednesday’s game against the
Rockies. The Giants now stand in 3rd place in the NL West.
