SAN FRANCISCO—On Monday, August 5, BART announced that they will be conducting temporary maintenance work and inspections on their escalator systems at the Powell and Montgomery stations to assure that they are functioning properly and to prepare for advanced work in the future.

The inspections will take place for a few hours each day from August 15 thru September 16. BART included a schedule of the work times and what they will be doing during those hours for the general public’s knowledge:

Montgomery: Floor scanning on 8/15 from 9:30am-4pm
Powell: Floor scanning on 8/16 from 9:30am-4pm
Montgomery: Cut floor sections and add temporary flooring (bottom) from 8/19-21, overnight
Powell: Cut floor sections and add temporary flooring (bottom) from 8/22-24, overnight
Montgomery: Cut floor sections and add temporary flooring (top) from 8/26-28, 9:30am-4pm
Powell: Cut floor sections and add temporary flooring (top) from 8/29-30, 9:30am-4pm
Montgomery: Survey escalators from 9/3-5, 10pm-3:30pm
Powell: Survey escalators on 9/6 and 9/9 from 10pm-3:30pm
Additional days if needed to complete work from 9/9-13 and 9/16, 10pm-3:30pm

Barricades will be set up around the escalators during the maintenance hours.
