BENICIA―A homeless man who was found in possession of a replica gun, in addition to drugs was arrested by authorities in Benicia on Wednesday, February 1, after a city employee reported the individual to authorities.

The homeless man was sleeping in a parked boat on East Fifth Street located near the wastewater treatment plant . The employee noted that the man may have been armed.

Responding officers found the suspect on the scene, sleeping with what appeared to be a gun in his lap. Authorities arrested the homeless man who was detained without incident.

Officers reported they found a methamphetamine and a pipe in the vehicle. Upon further investigation, it was determined that the weapon was a high-powered and realistic-looking pellet gun.

The 47-year-old man, whose name has not been released to the public, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a methamphetamine. The replica gun was seized by authorities.
