SAN FRANCISCO—On Saturday, November 17, a fishermen found a body of a man a mile offshore from a Alviso Marina near Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara.  he body is presumed to be that of a football fan and veteran who went missing during a NFL game between the San Francisco 49ers and New York Giants last week.

The missing man was identified as Ian Powers, 32, of Spokane, Washington. Powers attended the game with his girlfriend Chelsea Robbins and their two children. Robbins indicated to authorities that she had indeed been in contact with her boyfriend via video chat and text messaging prior to his disappearance.   

Surveillance cameras show Powers leaving the stadium at 8:52 p.m and walking through the parking lot at 9:03 p.m. The Santa Clara Police Department tracked Power’s phone to a nearby parking lot and found his vehicle untouched and abandoned. His family last heard form him at around 10 p.m. According to reports, he was allegedly located at Old Glory Lane and Great America Parkway.

On Tuesday, November 13, Powers was reported missing to the Santa Clara Police Department.  According to the police report, he was travelling from Spokane to Los Angeles and had the intention of going to the game.  

The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner is currently conducting an autopsy to identify the body and determine the cause of death.
