Bruins Edge Out Bears In Nail-Bitter

BERKELEY—When you see a good football game trust me you know it. Saturday’s game between the UCLA Bruins and the California Golden Bears was one hell of a game. It was a game that was back and forth all the way up until the final minutes of the fourth quarter where the Bruins edged out their opponents 36-34.

The Bruins proved to dominate the first half of the game keeping the Bears scoreless in the first quarter of the game.  The Bears would respond with that grip-hold by scoring two touchdowns before half-time, as UCLA led 24-14.  With a 10-point lead the Bruins were in a good spot, but the Bears were determined to prove a point by scoring two touchdowns in the third quarter to slice the Bruins lead to only five points at the start of the fourth quarter.

With the Bruins up 33-28, they were determined to keep that lead going, but the Bears had other plans as Cameron Walker intercepted a pass from UCLA quarterback Brett Hundley that gave the Bears their golden opportunity for a touchdown.  With that mistake, the Bears for the first time in the game had the lead 34-33. The Bruins would not go down without a fight as they made a drive for a field goal that ultimately sealed the Bears fate.

Hundley threw for 330 yards and two touchdowns during the game. Bears quarterback Jared Goff threw for 303 yards in the game. The turnovers were problematic for the Bruins during the game, so let’s hope that issue is resolved. With a record of 5-2, the Bruins will next face-off against the Colorado Buffalos on Saturday, October 25.
