HOLLYWOOD—Major casting news hit the Internet on June 2, as it was announced that “Game of Thrones” star Gwendoline Christie and Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong’o have joined the cast of the upcoming “Star Wars” movie. The hotly anticipated sequel to the sci-fi classic is slated to hit theaters in December 2015.

A multitude of the new cast was revealed a few weeks ago which includes Oscar Isaac, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Andy Serkis, Domhall Gleeson and Max Van Sydow. Returning cast members include Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Kenny Baker, Peter Meyhew and Anthony Daniels.

What roles Christie and Nyong’o will portray in the new film have not yet been disclosed. The sequel is being helmed by “Star Trek” director J.J. Abrams.
