SAN FRANCISCO—An explosive device was discovered on the unit block of Arkansas Street in San Francisco’s Southern District on Thursday, September 7. Robert Rueca of the SFPD Media Relations branch disclosed the finding in a Daily Recap.

Just before 7:00 a.m., construction workers were digging and came across a grenade. The SFPD noted that the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) responded promptly and removed the device from the site.

No arrests have been made in the incident. There were no reports of any injuries during the incident. The San Francisco Police Department has not released any additional details about the incident.
