HOLLYWOOD—The “Dallas” reboot returned from its midseason finale this week to pick up where it left off with the fire on Southfork Ranch. “Denial, Anger, Acceptance” was indeed a tense episode that showed the true colors of some of our characters.  Christopher (Jesse Metcalfe) and Bobby (Patrick Duffy) played hero, as they saved Sue Ellen (Linda Gray) and Beau from the fire. They were literally in panic mode upon arriving at the hospital, as familiar faces showed up.

John Ross (Josh Henderson) and Emma (Emma Bell) were devastated by Pamela’s (Julie Gonzalo) overdose.  At the hospital, the lovers were forced to explain themselves and took harsh words from almost everyone involved.  Harris found himself being tortured by his domineering mother Judith (Judith Light), who was aware her son and Ann (Brenda Strong) shared a kiss.  Uh-oh, just the ammunition this woman needs to cause chaos.

Elena (Jordana Brewster) and Nicholas consummated their relationship. The happy moment soon turned sour when she discovered that the ranch was on fire. Nicholas quickly showed his colors to the audience revealing he knows more than he has let on. Christopher and Elena shared a passionate hug (in my opinion) at the hospital that concerned Chris’ new beau. Ann laid some harsh words into her daughter about her actions; I mean what is this beat-up on Emma day? The girl has been through hell, and it doesn’t help to have those who ‘care’ about her turn their backs. That was just the ammunition her grandmother used to get her granddaughter to exact vengeance on those who have wronged her.

Everyone suspected Beau as being the culprit of the fire, but the red herring is not always the guilty party. Sue Ellen continued to lie to her friends about her drinking coming back to the surface. During her stint in the hospital she continued to encounter flashbacks about what transpired.  Bobby was thrown for a loop when he learned Ann kissed Harris and lied to his face about it.  Their relationship has been up and down for the past two seasons, so this betrayal could be difficult to recover from.

Elena was not pleased to learn from John Ross that the video of him and Emma was sent to Pamela. It instantly fueled Elena’s rage who knew it was Nicholas who sent the video to Pam.  I have a feeling that Elena knows more about Nicholas’ duplicity than she chooses to acknowledge.

In an interesting moment, John Ross did his best to reconcile with Pamela, but she was not buying anything that he was selling. His belief that she overdosed because of his betrayal was not the case. When she dropped the bomb that she wanted to give him a lasting impression of her lifeless body, it was the nail in the coffin. This relationship is done, signed and delivered. Sue Ellen was on the verge of drinking after shave, yep after shave to get her alcohol fix, when she remembered she caused the fire.

The tormented soul revealed the news to Bobby and Ann, who were stunned, but more proud of their friend for admitting her ongoing battle with alcoholism. Who are we kidding; did Sue Ellen really cause the fire? Absolutely not! The final moments of the episode was a game-changer as Nicholas continued to hold Drew, against his will.

The audience soon learned that Drew caused the fire at Southfork and Nicholas was not willing to allow Drew to destroy his master plan in tact. So what does the devious one do? He shoots Elena’s brother in the head! Yep, didn’t see that one coming, but Nicholas has indeed crossed over to the dark side and a war is on the horizon. “Dallas” airs Mondays at 9 p.m. on TNT.
