SAN FRANCISCO—Details have surfaced about the death of high school pedestrian, Seana Canavan, who was struck by a taxi on Saturday, April 18. Canavan would have been 18 on April 20.

She stepped off the curb and was hit by a taxicab heading westbound on Pine Street in the Polk Gulch neighborhood of San Francisco.

Officer Albie Esparza of SFPD reported that friends at the scene rushed to her aide and immediately phoned medical assistance, but the teen was pronounced dead upon arrival due to her injuries. According to authorities, the driver of the cab remained at the scene is cooperating with investigators.

The Varsity Volleyball player was set to graduate from San Francisco‘s International High School this spring.

Unable to comment on Sunday, Canavan’s father reported that he and Seana’s boyfriend remained by her side in her final moments.

This was the first of two pedestrian fatalities this weekend in the city of San Francisco.
