SAN FRANCISCO—The San Francisco Police Department has ruled the disappearance of Piseth Chhay as a homicide. On June 24, 2017, officials from the San Francisco Medical Examiner’s Office and canine teams from the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Team responded to a warehouse in Hayward, California where human remains were discovered. Officials confirmed the identity of Chhay, who was reported missing after last being seen on May 14, 2017.

The San Francisco Police Department Homicide Detail Unit is conducting a homicide investigation for the death of Piseth Chhay. Investigators have identified Bob Tang (aka “Bob Tov”) as a suspect and who is believed to have fled to the country of Cambodia. Authorities are working with its law enforcement partners to locate and arrest Tang. Chhay and Tang are family acquaintances.

The warehouse where Chhay was found is connected to Tang. Chhay’s vehicle was discovered in an SFO parking lot on May 25, 2017 and was towed to a police impound for processing by CSI. Chhay was an Uber driver who was married to Rattana Kim for more than 20 years and is the father of two boys.
