SACRAMENTO—A drone dropped swastika-decorated anti-media flyers in Sacramento on Friday, May 3 outside of both an outdoor Sacramento State fundraising dinner and an Ariana Grande concert. Sacramento State president Robert S. Nelsen issued a public statement Friday night shared on Facebook.

“Sacramento State condemns in the strongest terms the dissemination of hate speech and propaganda Friday evening at our annual fundraising dinner at the Guy West Bridge,” said Nelsen. “The anonymous act of spreading such vile material is offensive and runs counter to the principles of inclusion and diversity practiced at Sac State. It did not stop the event, nor will it slow our march toward greater understanding and commitment to the rights and safety of our campus community.”

The flyers were also dropped at the Ariana Grande concert near the Golden 1 Center where hundreds of the singer’s fans were waiting to enter the venue. Grande performed later that day.

The flyers show an image of a swastika along with hate speech against the media. Not all of the flyers had the same design — one flyer featured several anti-media statements placed over a red “X” and phrases like “stop the TV whore takeover” and “the press is the enemy,” while another flyer featured a swastika. Flyers were released on both sides of the Guy West Bridge by an aerial drone around 6:30 p.m.
