SAN FRANCISCO—Pedro Perez, a window washer, fell onto a moving vehicle while working on the top of a bank building in the financial district on November 21.

The 11-story fall caused Perez to suffer extensive brain trauma, internal hemorrhaging, a ruptured artery, broken arm, and fractured pelvis.

Perez’s family began raising funds to help support medical bills by starting an online fund on December 11, where more than 1,160 donors have contributed.

The GoFundMe page has raised more than $73,000, more than three times the sites initial goal.

Perez hopes to one day walk again. He has regained some of his memory and is capable of conversing with loved ones.

To thank donors, his daughter Monica posted a message to the crowd funding site:

“I just wanted to thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts on behalf of my father and my family and thank everyone for all their support their generosity and loving comments for the family it means a lot to us to know that we’re not alone and that people are willing to give us what little they may have, just to help us in this time of need. The outcome of the fundraiser has surpassed anything we could have hoped for.”
