HOLLYWOOD—It might be awards season, but sometimes winning an award is not great, especially when it comes to the Razzies. The 2016 ceremony, which is annually held the night before the Oscars pay tribute to the worst films and performances of the year, and there were some surprises. “Fifty Shades of Grey” which was a box-office beast last year, took home four awards including Worst Picture. The steamy drama tied with “Fantastic Four” for that prize.

Jamie Dornan won the award for Worst Actor for his stiff performance in “Fifty Shades of Grey” and his co-star Dakota Johnson won the prize for Worst Actress. The duo also won the prize for Worst Screen Combo.

“Fantastic Four” also won awards for Worst Remake/Rip-Off/Sequel, as well as Worst Director for Josh Trank and Worst Screenplay. So in essence both “Fantastic Four” and “Fifty Shades of Grey” were big winners of the night.

Eddie Redmayne who is nominated for a Best Actor Oscar for his performance in “The Danish Girl” won the Razzie for Worst Supporting Actor for “Jupiter Ascending” and Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting won for Worst Supporting Actress for “Alvin & The Chipmunks: The Road Chip” and “The Wedding Ringer.”

There was at least one redeeming award at the ceremony, the prize for the Razzie Redeemer Award. That accolade went to Sylvester Stallone for his performance in “Creed.” Everyone is expecting Stallone to take the prize for the Best Supporting Actor Oscar on Sunday, but be careful people, the Academy is always known for surprises and I have a gut instinct that Mark Rylance “Bridge of Spies” might steal Stallone’s thunder.
