SAN FRANCISCO—The Westfield Mall was evacuated after a small fire was reported on Monday, November 21. The San Francisco Fire Department announced the news of the fire via Twitter.

The fire started at the Coach store located on the second level of the mall. The SFFD reported the fire at 5:38 p.m. There were no reports of any damage or injuries.

Employees and shoppers were evacuated around 5:30 p.m., sending people onto the streets causing traffic and crowded sidewalks. Traffic was backed up on 5th Street when fire trucks arrived on the West side of the building. Shoppers waited about an hour before they were allowed to re-enter the establishment.

On December 17, 2012, San Francisco firefighters extinguished a small flue fire at the Westfield Mall. Investigators have not yet disclosed what started the fire at the Coach store.
