HOLLYWOOD—Tyler Perry culminated the second season of his hit series “The Haves and Have Nots” with a finale that will be talked about until the return of the series. This season was a page-turner, with the cover-up between the Cryer and Harrington family who did their best to cover their tracks with the involvement of their sons, Wyatt (Aaron O’Connell) and Jeffrey (Gavin Houston) in the hit and run of Benny (Tyler Lepley) and the death of a young girl.

The tension between the rich and the poor has reached a fever pitch and this was one finale that delivered on every possible aspect the audience could ask for. It was a treat to see Veronica (Angela Robinson) attempt to coerce her son to follow her rules, just as Jeffrey was a bit surprised to learn that the guy he met at the gay club works for Maggie. This only sparked the tension between Veronica, David (Peter Parros) and the rest of the gang.

Hanna (Crystal Fox) found herself thrown behind bars for the disappearance of her son Benny who was moved from the hospital. She was aloof to her son’s whereabouts, but at the same time pleasantly surprised by the fact her son who she presumed was dead, was very much alive. Landon was not eager to allow Jeffrey to allow his mother to rattle his cage. The campaign event got off to an even rougher start when Candace (Tika Sumpter) decided to crash the party, and irritate Kathryn (Renee Lawless) about her husband’s misdeeds, just as Jim (John Schneider) and the rest of the election party were invited to the latest turn of events.

There is one thing I have to say about Candace, it’s the fact that she knows how to get under the skin of those who despise her most. She decided to unleash the fact that her brother was dead because Jim chose not to assist her brother, it appears Kathryn already took care of it. “Careful, I sue,” whispered Candace to a tempered Kathryn. Classic line! She revealed to all that she is pregnant with Jim’s child. Veronica and Maggie shared details on her trip to the penitentiary to get the goods on their enemy that could bring her down once and for all.

After all the bickering it was made known that Jim still has feelings for Candace or it appears he has an ulterior motive planned. It appears Jeffrey was caught red-handed by Candace, just as Jim told David he has set a plan in motion to take care of his notorious enemy. Just as I suspected, Hanna’s new detective was working for Jim and he revealed that Wyatt was about to be arrested for murder. Just when the audience suspects Hanna to find a good guy, the rich use their money to control all the strings.

Hanna made a call to Mrs. Cryer to determine if Benny had been moved, and Kathryn nearly fainted after learning that Hanna was in prison for not revealing her son’s whereabouts. I can honestly say I love Kathryn. She might be ruthless, but of all the haves she is the only person with a heart. Something that can’t be said for all the other characters! Amanda decided to confront the guy who raped her. He was unnerved by her constant stalking, but she decided to make threats, and she stabbed him with a knife. That had to be the craziest moment on television ever, as not a single person attempted to assist the victim, but I must say he did deserve it.

Jim was not pleased to learn from Wyatt that Veronica has her hands on Jeffrey’s vehicle. When things get sticky the rich will backstab one another to stay on top. Kathryn was taken for a loop when she discovered that Wyatt was arrested for murder, which prompted the two ladies who had become friends to once again become enemies.

Jim planned an ambush on Candace in the middle of a park, where he revealed his plans to allow his former mistress to have an out without any strings attached. This all culminated with Candace stating, “You can’t afford me as an enemy.” Not before she was drugged and taken captive by Jim’s henchmen.  This does not bode well for Candace, but I have a feeling blood is about to be spilled. The season finale may have transpired, but the twists, turns and backstabbing returns in May. Just be patient “Haves and Have Not” fans as the drama will return.
