SAN FRANCISCO—The San Francisco Police Department is asking for the public’s help to locate a burglary suspect. According to the SFPD website, on January 17 at approximately 1:14 a.m., the suspect exited a bar and flagged down a cab in the region of 11th Avenue and Geary Boulevard. The suspect entered the cab and snatched the driver’s bag. After a brief tussle, the suspect was able to overpower the victim, and fled the scene with the driver’s property.

The suspect was last seen running eastbound on Geary Boulevard from 11th Avenue. Police have described the suspect as a Hispanic male, between 20-30 years old, standing 5 feet and 10 inches tall and weighing approximately 180 pounds. He was wearing a dark hoody sweatshirt and a ball cap.

The SFPD has released video footage of the incident and the suspect inside the bar. Video shows the taxi driver attempting to shove the suspect out of the vehicle, while the suspect continued to tussle over the belongings while smoking a broken cigarette. He is also seen sitting at the bar a little over 4 minutes, without a drink, but chatting with another patron.

Authorities are asking anyone with information on the suspect or details on the case to contact the San Francisco Police anonymously at 415-575-4444 or text-a-tip to TIP411 with SFPD at the start of the message.
