SAN FRANCISCO—Officials from the San Francisco Police Department’s Vicious and Dangerous Dog Unit is asking for the public’s help to identify a dog that bit two students near the Joe DiMaggio Playground. The SFPD indicated in a press release that on April 3 at approximately 12 p.m., the two middle school students were running for a school physical education assignment, when they were bitten by a dog on the corner of Mason and Lombard Streets.

The students did not provoke the dog during the incident. Both were taken to a hospital to be treated for extensive bite wounds to their legs, and were later released.

The dog is described as large and white with black and gray colored spots. The owner of the pet has been described as a Caucasian female in her 30s. She was last seen wearing a black shirt and purple vest.

Officials want to identify the dog in order to obtain information regarding the dog’s vaccination record. The dog’s owner or anyone with information on the whereabouts of the dog or its owner is asked to contact the Vicious and Dangerous Dog Unit at (415) 553-9182.
