HOLLYWOOD—There are awards you want to win, then there are awards you want to stay very far away. Per usual, the prizes for the 39th annual Razzie Awards were handed out on Saturday, February 23. Leading all contenders going into the ceremony was “Gotti” and “The Happytime Murders” with a total of six nominations apiece including Worst Picture.

However, there was another film that rose to the top of victory. That film was none other than “Holmes & Watson” which walked away with multiple Razzies including Worst Picture. Melissa McCarthy, who is an Oscar-nominee for Best Actress this year was a double winner. She picked up the prize for Worst Actress for “The Happytime Murders” and the Redeemer Award for “Can You Ever Forgive Me?”

For Worst Actor that accolade was given to Donald Trump for “Death of Nation” and “Fahrenheit 9/11.” John C. Reilly won Worst Supporting Actor for “Holmes & Watson,” while Kellyanne Conway won for Worst Supporting Actress for “Fahrenheit 9/11.”  Trump picked up another award for Worst Screen Combo for “Death of a Nation” and “Fahrenheit 9/11.”

“Holmes & Watson” also claimed victory for Worst Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel,” as well as Worst Director for Etan Cohen. We can’t wrap up the worst of the worst without talking about “Fifty Shades Freed” which won the prize for Worst Screenplay. So the worst of 2018 have been crowned, but the question we all want to know is who will claim those honors for 2019? We’ve already had some bad films early on this year, and I expect we’ll see plenty more in the coming months.
