HOLLYWOOD—Oh, how so I love reality television. I’m particularly a fan of “The Real Housewives” franchises. I will admit some of the franchises are far more entertaining than others. This year “Real Housewives of Atlanta” has been underwhelming, “Dallas” is not my cup of tea, “Potomac” was ok, and the last season of “Beverly Hills” was just pure boredom. So what franchise is getting the golden trophy: “The Real Housewives of New Jersey?”

This ninth season of the series has been one of the best in years, and the show has had its ups and downs in recent years with favorites leaving and newbies joining the cast. Season eight was great, as we saw Danielle Staub return to the foray and her friction with Siggy Flicker (who is no longer on the show) and Dolores Cantania delivered some epic moments. Oh, I can’t forget about the addition of Margaret Josephs, whose sass, comedic timing and sharp tongue was a burst of originality the series desperately needed.

For Season 9, we’ve witnessed the addition of two new ladies, Jackie Goldschneider and Jennifer Aydin. At first, I was iffy about the ladies, but it seems both have made their imprint on the season. Jackie is not afraid to speak her mind which gets her in trouble, while Jennifer does come across as pompous and s show off  times ensuring everyone knows how wealthy she is.

There has been some friction between Jennifer and Margaret, and Jackie has unleashed the sleeping lion in original staple Teresa Guidice. Yeah, Teresa and Jackie have had some epic screaming matches, and we’re only half-way into the season, so the drama is certain to escalate. Making things more complicated is the growing friction between Teresa and her sister-in-law Melissa Gorga. These two were mortal enemies a few seasons ago, and things were looking good. However, Melissa’s friendship with Jackie has caused waves with Teresa who does not like Jackie for butting into family business. This week’s recent episode saw Jackie cause more ire this time in regards to her column she wrote pointing a finger at Jennifer and her parenting skills.

On one side there is Margaret, Melissa and Jackie, on the other side you have Teresa, Jennifer, Dolores and Danielle. Oh this is going to be so fun. It’s always great when you have a divided cast and not just 1 or 2 people being completely ganged up on. It felt like that a bit on “New Jersey” in recent seasons. I even forgot to mention we’re seeing Danielle back in her true form, but this season really going at the jugular at her pal Margaret, who I might argue has been fiercely loyal to Danielle.

I mean did you watching the wedding episode, spoiler alert Danielle and Marty are no longer married. I mean Margaret has taken a beating so far from Danielle, and while she has snapped back, we haven’t seen the fiery Margaret truly unleash how she feels about her pal, but I can’t wait to see those fireworks. I’m already salivating at the thought of watching the reunion for season 9 which might be one of the best to date.

Did I mention that at the catalyst of this season is going to be some sort of epic explosion between Teresa and Melissa? It was teased in the season nine trailer so I’m hoping the fireworks that were promised to viewers actually deliver.  “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. on Bravo.
