HOLLYWOOD HILLS—Prolific actor and lead singer of Thirty Seconds To Mars, Jared Leto, just purchased a unique $5 million compound in Hollywood Hills.

The property sits on 1.5 acres and is located within a gated community. The Los Angeles Times reports that the residence was “once part of the Lookout Mountain Air Force Station, where the Pentagon’s motion picture and photograph unit processed and edited films and photos of nuclear tests, missile firings and rocket launches.”

The home’s 50,000 square feet includes interesting features like studios, a soundstage, a theater, a large motor court in the backyard, and art galleries.

The abode boasts eight bedrooms and 12 bathrooms. The interior ranges in style and features tile, paver and concrete floors, arched windows, sloped ceilings and ceiling beams.

The backyard includes a swimming pool and a courtyard on what the Los Angeles Times describes as “fortress-like grounds.”

The property last sold nearly 20 years ago for $750,000, according to public records.

The 43-year-old artist won an Oscar for his supporting role in the 2013 film, “Dallas Buyers Club.”

Leto’s other movie roles include “American Psycho” (2000), “Mr. Nobody” (2009), “Fight Club” (1999) “Lord of War” (2005) and “Requiem for a Dream” (2000).

Brett Lawyer of Hilton & Hyland/Christie’s International Real Estate was the listing agent. The transaction was completed off-market.
