HOLLYWOOD—After having a tight grip on the box-office since its release on April 26, “Avengers: Endgame” has been dethroned from the top spot at the box-office by a worthy opponent no less. The third installment in the Keanu Reeves franchise “John Wick Chapter 3 – Parabellum” rose to the top spot with an impressive $57.2 million. Not bad as it outpaced its 2017 predecessor who brought in a little over $30 million during its opening weekend.

As a movie buff it’s a long time coming because we haven’t seen an action-packed extravaganza like this in a really long time people. “Avengers: Endgame” landed in second place with around $29.4 million. Since its release the comic book adventure has earned over $2.6 billion worldwide. Falling to third place was the “Pokemon: Detective Pikachu” with $24.8 million. The flick is on track to cross the $100 million mark at the domestic box-office by mid-week.

Debuting in fourth place was the feel good movie “A Dog’s Journey” with a meek $8 million. Rounding out the top five was the comedy “The Hustle” with a little over $6 million. This weekend kicks off the official start of summer in many people’s eyes with Memorial Day. However, the question everyone wants to know is rather the live-action version of the Disney classic “Aladdin” will best the 90s classic. With Will Smith as the Genie, I’m not sure.
