HOLLYWOOD—In Hollywood, if a movie does well you should expect a sequel.  Two of the biggest franchises “Jurassic Park” and “Pirates of the Caribbean” will see new installments hit multiplexes in the coming years.  It’s been over 10 years since the last installment of the “Jurassic Park” franchise with “Jurassic Park 3.”  The picture did ok at the box office, but wasn’t the fan favorite that many expected it to be.  “Jurassic Park 4” is expected to arrive in theaters June 13, 2014.  Details of the plot for the picture are tight-wrapped, but with Steven Spielberg on board to produce, here’s hoping the next installment will be something epic.  No cast has yet to be attached to the picture.

The “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise has made Johnny Depp (Captain Jack Sparrow) a superstar.  Depp even earned an Academy Award nomination for Lead Actor for his work in the first movie.  Depp was the only remaining cast member next to Geoffrey Rush who returned for the last installment of the series “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.” The movie received mixed reviews from critics and the public, but earned a hefty amount of money at the box-office.

Depp is attached to star again in the newest sequel.  Other cast members for the picture have not yet been announced.  Jerry Bruckheimer will once again produce the picture, with writing duties assigned to Jeff Nathanson.  A wish list for fans of the franchise would be to see the return of Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley who last appeared in “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End.”   The return of those actors will indeed bring back that magical chemistry that was evident in the first and second installments in the franchise. “Pirates of the Caribbean 5” is expected to arrive in theaters July 10, 2015.
