LOS ANGELES—On Wednesday, May 29, the Los Angeles Kings defeated the San Jose Sharks giving them the opportunity to move on to the Western Conference Finals. The Kings won 2-1 in the decisive game seven at home.

Justin Williams played hero for the Kings scoring two goals in the second period to give Los Angeles the victory. Jonathan Quick made 25 saves, an astonishing win for the defending champs who continue their home winning streak with 14. The Kings were given a run for the money in the third period and they had to play tough defense. The home team won every home game in this series.

Antti Niemi stopped sixteen shots and Dan Boyle scored early in the third period, but it wasn’t enough to beat the Kings. The Sharks fell short of their third trip to the conference finals in four years.

The best of seven games series comes to an end with the Kings moving on to the next round. The Kings will face the Chicago Blackhawks next.
