Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell

BEVERLY HILLS—Actors Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell quietly married at the Beverly Hills County Clerk’s Office on Thursday, October 17.

After a three-year engagement and the birth of their daughter Lincoln in March, Bell of “Veronica Mars” and Shepard of “Parenthood” tied the knot.

***image3***Bell informally confirmed the wedding news on Friday morning with a tweet that read, “Wife coffee tastes way better than regular coffee in the morning :).”

Bell, 33, and Shepard, 38, first announced their engagement in January 2010, but decided to postpone their marriage until California legalized same-sex marriages.

“We’ve been very vocal about not wanting to be married in a state that doesn’t allow the right to all of its citizens,”Belltold Celebuzz in 2012. “We’ll wait until California gets on the right side of history.”

Their wait came to an end when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of equal rights by overturning California’s Prop 8 and striking down the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) in June of this year.

Upon learning of the landmark rulings, Kristen Bell renewed her engagement with Shepard by tweeting on June 26, “@daxshepard1 will you marry me? Xo #marriageequality #loveislove.”

Shepard tweeted in response, “DOMA is dead. Prop 8 is dead. Now let’s bring my big, gay marriage to @IMKristenBell to Life!!!!”

According to TMZ, the couple initially went to the Beverly Hill’s Clerk Office on October 17 to get their marriage license when a court employee spontaneously offered to marry them on the spot. Eyewitnesses said the happy couple agreed and were married in a private Beverly Hills courtroom, finally getting the low-key wedding they always wanted.
