HOLLYWOOD—At first, it was reported that Jennifer Lopez had pulled out of performing at the World Cup’s opening ceremony; she has confirmed she will be there. Earlier this week, Fifa officials announced that the singer wouldn’t perform the official tune, “We Are One (Ole Ola)” alongside Pitbull and Claudia Leitte.

They had apparently cited “production issues,” as the cause of her withdrawal from the event. Lopez told the Associated Press, that the trio would perform before Brazil takes on Croatia on June 12, in the opening game in Sao Paulo.

The 44-year-old singer is busy promoting her new album, “A.K.A.,” to be released next week. She is certainly keeping us on our toes. There were last minute doubts over whether Lopez, who recently broke up with backup dancer and boyfriend Casper Smart, would attend.

So who will be some of the Hollywood stars that will flock to Brazil to be a part of history? The world will be focused on not only the soccer teams, but the country itself. The last time Brazil hosted a World Cup was in 1950. The country has waited 64 years to be the center of attention and be on the world stage with a shot of redemption after losing to Uruguay.

Is it just a coincidence that the July 13 final is in the same exact stadium?   However, all is not peaceful. Protests have taken place in the streets of Brazil leading up to this week’s World Cup, amidst concerns over the high costs of 12 stadiums.

With the World Cup on the program for the next month, it seems everyone has caught the World Cup fever. I had the honor of spending the last week with the Portuguese National team, while they trained at the New York Jets facility in Florham Park, N.J. With all eyes focused on Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo, wondering if he was physically fit to play in the World Cup. He proved himself once again at the MetLife Stadium on June 10.

The best soccer player on the planet proved nothing can keep him down. In a 5-1 victory over Ireland in a World Cup friendly, the 29-year-old superstar that is even more handsome in person, performed in a competitive match for the first time in almost three weeks. When asked if he was 100 percent fit, “I’m 99.9 percent,” Ronaldo said.  The message was super clear-CR7 is back.

Ronaldo isn’t just any other player. He’s at the peak of his game, still wearing a band on his left knee when he played against Ireland on June 10, he’s unstoppable. Even the Ghanaian witch doctor who took credit for Ronaldo’s injury (seriously), didn’t work. Portugal dominated the entire game.

His girlfriend Irina Shayk, who loves Hermes bags met up with him while the team trained in New Jersey. They took in a boxing match on June 7, Cotto vs. Martinez, which Cotto won. They both shopped at the Short Hills Mall, dined at the restaurant in the hotel, with top security at the door of the restaurant. While the team trained in Jersey, they gave out autographs, took selfies with fans, laughed and had some good times.

After the friendly match with Ireland, they left for Brazil to face off with Germany on June 16. Two of the world’s top three teams and the best player will go head to head. A loss by either means having to beat both the U.S. and Ghana to ensure surviving Group G; anything else would be an abysmal failure.
