LOS ANGELES—Although the Los Angeles Rams have yet to take a snap in the city of Angels, they have been awarded the crown jewel in all of sports. Super Bowl LV (55) will be held at the new $2.6 billion soon to be built, entertainment complex in Inglewood, where the Rams will call home once it is completed in 2019.

The NFL owners met in Charlotte, NC, Los Angeles beat out Tampa to host the Super Bowl. “The Los Angeles region is built to host the Super Bowl,” said Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti.

“I think it’s very much a reflection of the excitement the ownership has for returning to Los Angeles, and the importance of having a Super Bowl back there after several decades,” said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

The last Super Bowl in the area was in 1993, at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, the Dallas Cowboys crushed the Buffalo Bills, 52-17 in Super Bowl XXVII.

The next four host cities will be Houston in 2017, Minnesota in 2018, Atlanta in 2019 and South Florida in 2020.

NBC will air Super Bowl LV. To think only a few months ago, LA was entering it’s third decade without an NFL team. In the blink of a eye we have a team, the No. 1 pick Quarterback Jared Goff from Cal and now the Super Bowl!
