SAN FRANCISCO—A man was arrested after driving across the Bay Bridge in the wrong direction on Monday, September 23.

The Tesla Model 3 was traveling from San Francisco to Oakland shortly before 3 a.m. driving eastbound in the westbound lanes.

The California Highway Patrol says that the driver went through the toll plaza and made his way through the entirety of the bridge. The driver was stopped by a spike strip that CHP officials placed on Fifth Avenue in Oakland.

Authorities took the driver into custody without incident. The CHP is investigating what prompted the motorist to drive his vehicle in the wrong direction. The name of the driver has not been disclosed to the public.
