SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO—A man was arrested in South San Francisco for attempting to kidnap an 11-year-old girl on her way to school. 

The incident transpired on Thursday, August 15, on Palm Avenue just before 8:00 a.m. as the girl and a friend walked to school. The suspect has been identified as Christopher Cole, 37, of South San Francisco. 

According to the press release from the South San Francisco Police Department, Cole grabbed the girl and placed a hand over her mouth before someone confronted Cole after witnessing what was happening. The witness freed the girl and chased Cole away. He was later arrested at an adult day care facility. 

The girl was not injured during the incident. Cole has been charged with attempted kidnapping and child annoyance. Authorities are still looking for a motive behind the incident.
