SAN FRANCISCO—A man who was killed in a four-vehicle collision on Wednesday, November 30 has been identified as 45-year old Anthony Lowenstein of Tiburon.

Lowenstein was identified on Thursday, December 1 by the San Francisco Medical Examiner’s Office. San Francisco Police Department Spokesperson Lt. Jonathan Baxter confirmed that four others suffered minor and critical injuries from the crash.

Lowenstein was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died, according to reports. An 86-year-old woman, a 46-year-old woman and an 88-year-old man suffered non-life threatening injuries as a result of the crash.

The accident took place between Divisadero and Lombard Streets at around 12 p.m., indicated Officer Giselle Talkoff, a spokesperson for the SFPD. Authorities closed off streets outside of the Palace of Fine Arts until approximately 3 p.m.

The San Francisco Fire Department tweeted: “Divisadero and Lombard is closed for an undetermined amount of time avoid area.”

The cause of Wednesday’s incident is still under investigation.
