SAN FRANCISCO—A 37-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries on Sunday, March 12, after being beaten in the North Beach neighborhood of San Francisco.

The assault occurred at around 9:30 a.m. in the 1000 block of Kearny Street, near Pacific Street and Columbus Avenue, officials from the San Francisco Police Department indicated.

Witnesses said the suspect, a 49-year-old man whose name was not released, ran toward the victim and began hitting him.

The victim, whose name has not released, attempted to defend himself and tried to escape the assailant, but fell to the ground. The attacker fled on foot, but police quickly tracked him down and took him into custody. The victim was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
